Release their new music video for MICHELLE

“My Michelle you are the first one, oh boy do I have eyes for you. So does everybody else. I wouldn’t call it first love, but you know how to leave me blue.”

DANCE, YOU’RE ON FIRE recently released the music video for their latest single, MICHELLE. Directed by band member and bassist, Paul van der Walt - the video was shot in mid August in Pretoria North.

The video is set in the 1920s and follows a ‘gangster’ theme. It documents a happy young couple being driven through the country when they are tricked and hijacked by a band of armed thieves. The couple are brought to an unused barn, where some interesting activities go down. The video plays out in true mafia fashion until the end, when something completely unexpected occurs.

DANCE, YOU’RE ON FIRE always knew that they wanted to release MICHELLE, but they weren’t sure of how it would be received because it is so different from every other song on the album. When it became clear to them that the track was doing well on radio and that people were enjoying it, they decided to go ahead with the video for the single.

“It feels good to have a video out which has a great narrative. The concept behind Boxes of Tigers was pretty simple, and it was really great to finally have the budget to pull off a proper narrative, historic video – it’s something we have wanted to do for a long time.”
